Story 259

The Boy Who Had Never Seen The Sea by J.M.G. Clezio, translated by Deborah Treisman, from the 10/27/08 New Yorker.  Interesting story about a boy who disappears from boarding school and his classmates, who never liked him much, don't offer much to the adults in the way of possibilities for where he went.  Or at least, that's the bookend of the story.  The interior might be about where he went, or it might be all someone's conjecture.  It's a bit up in the air about whether the center of the story is real or imagined.  Interesting.
