I have only two for you. Both are essays from Facing Unpleasant Facts: Narrative Essays, George Orwell, complied by George Packer, 2008.

40. "The Spike" This is much like the clink...the forerunner to the homeless shelters of today.
41. "The Clink"- I found this quite humour filled as he attempts to get himself arrested so he can write about the experience of arrest, court and incarceration.

Now I would like to read the essays in this lovely hardcover but alas it must go back to the library and well I need to get some other books under my belt and I may get back to this collection some time in the future.

I haven't read any of Orwell's non-fiction, although I think I came across an anthology in a used bookstore a while back. Maybe I should start looking for that and read up on some of it!

an aside
I found 1984 incredibly violent. It filled me with dread.
On the other hand.... Keep the Aspidistra Flying made me want to strangle the male character for the first 9 chapters of the book.
