back again

Today I pulled a couple of books off the shelf. Turns out one is a collection of short stories by Marnie Woodrow. Again a Canadian writer. The collection is called In the Spice House.

This morning I read

21. "Mrs. Ann Potato"
22. "Sweet Nothing"

I liked both for different reasons. And both resulted in deaths.

Number 21 was magical in a  tragic way
Number 22 was tragic in a magical way

All the stories in the collection are related to eating. Reading about food. Now if only there was food about reading.

Giving new meaning....
... to the term "eat your words?"

Welcome back. I'm going to have to add Marnie Woodrow to the list of authors to seek out.

I am in a bit of a "genre" mode right now, but I still have a stack of New Yorkers, All-Storys, Glimmer Trains and Tin Houses with "literary short stories" to work through as well.

Speaking of this collection
I have one story left it is the title story. Then I will have a long entry. It has been a delicious ride.
