Wrapping Up

I give to you the last two from

Other Solitudes Canadian Multicultural Fictions

100. 'The Bridge" from In the Skin of the Lion by Michael Ondaatje. Yes, the dude that went on to write The English Patient and most recently Divisadero. I enjoyed this short story which is written in a way that takes your breath away and shows fellow writers how word choice can change everything.

101. "Mrs. Mucharski and the Princess" by Janice Kulyk Keefer. When we make assumptions and take them to be the truth we get the slap upside the head we so desperately deserve when our world starts to crumble.

Amazing, isn't it? I have reached triple digits. Things are looking up.

Over all this collection had its moments but it seems really dated. I think resulted from the interviews of each writer by some academic or other writer regarding multiculturalism and "ethnic" writing is of a different time. The world has changed.
