2014 Story 100

From Lightspeed Magazine, April 2014

100. CODENAME: DELPH by Linda Nagata   In Nagata's not-so-seemingly-distant future, Handlers positioned thousands of miles from a theater of war help soldiers navigate and survive battle through the use of remote drones, ear-piece communications and the near-instantaneous collation of thousands of data points.  Karin, codename: Delphi, handles three soldiers embroiled in intense situations... and then through the actions of another handler, her burden increases.  Through a solid POV and great tension-building, Nagata illustrates the remove we all have from war thanks to 24-hour newscycles and first-person-shooter vide games.
