2014 Story 67

From the March 2014 issue of Lightspeed Magazine:

67. TURNOVER by Jo Walton    The reality is that if we're going to colonize other planets, colony ships will likely take several generations to reach their destination. Walton sets her story at the mid-point of such a journey and populates the story with characters who are of the generation that were born on the colony ship and will die on the colony ship, but whose generation have an important function: to make sure the ship "turns over" to complete the journey as scheduled.  A group of artist and scientist friends meet for dinner to discuss the future: is planetfall on the New World the only choice for their descendants, or can they have options? There's some great world-building and very strong characterizations in this piece.
